The Sunday Reset: Plan Your Week in 30 Minutes
2026-08-16 by Gonçalo Alves
Why Sundays matter
Monday morning is the worst time to decide what to do with your week. You're rushed, the inbox is full, and every decision feels urgent. The Sunday Reset moves that thinking to a calm moment — so you start the week with direction instead of reaction.
The 30-minute routine
Set a timer for 30 minutes and work through these five steps, in order:
- Review the past week (5 min). Look at your calendar and task list. What did you finish? What slipped? No judgment — just notes.
- Clear the deck (5 min). Forward or file anything that arrived during the weekend. Deal with quick items now so they don't haunt you Monday.
- Pick your top 3 (5 min). Choose the three outcomes that would make next week a win. Everything else is a bonus.
- Block the time (10 min). Put your top 3 into specific time slots. Use a Pomodoro timer to protect focus blocks.
- Prep tomorrow (5 min). Lay out what Monday needs: clothes, meals, first task. Future you will be grateful.
The Sunday Reset rules
- Short and ritualized. 30 minutes, same time, every Sunday. Consistency beats intensity.
- Calendar-backed. A plan that isn't on the calendar is a wish. Block everything.
- Top 3, not top 20. Three written priorities are actionable. Twenty are anxiety.
Make it a habit
Doing the Reset at the same hour each Sunday makes it automatic. Pair it with something you already enjoy — coffee, tea, a walk — and the routine will stick. The goal isn't perfect planning. It's starting Monday knowing exactly what matters, instead of finding out by accident.
